Bastardo Massandra
is made from the Magaratch Bastardo grape
variety selection. Created by the Magaracth Scientific Research
Institute the variety enjoyed popularity among wine-growers and
wine-makers, who gave birth to this fine, desert, wine. Grape is
harvested when natural sugar content has reached no less than 25%. The
young wine is matured in oak casks in underground tunnels at 10-15C
for two years. The resultant wine has 20% sugar, alcohol - 16. Deep
dark-pomegranate color. Compound bouquet with piquancy, velvety with
light tinges of chocolate. In 1970 at Yalta International Contest the
wine was awarded two gold medals. It won a gold medal and First Grade
Diploma at the Crimea Wine - 96.
